Nike Air Monarch 4
I got introduced to this popular dad sneaker in February 2017. These iconic Nike shoes caught my eye immediately because of the upgraded design and reputation. The Air Monarchs used to be a shoe worn by the typical old guy but they are now hotter than ever. I honestly love the design because they are part of the huge ‘ugly’ trend. They look so big and bulky that it actually works. The top of the shoe is made of sustainable leather and the sole is made of lightweight rubber. For me the most important part of this sneaker is the price compared to the quality. You can purchase these beauties almost everywhere in Antwerp for only €55. The Nike Air Monarch 4 is still available in stores.
Nike m2k tekno
The m2k tekno sneaker is one of the most recent launches of Nike. It’s hard not to fall in love with this unconventional dad shoe. The shoe got launched in the early 2000’s but got a complete makeover. After 16 years this is one of the most iconic sneaker of Nike. I find the design comparable with the Nike Air Monarch but it’s less chunky and masculine. Nike launched this sneaker in Pink Foam as you can see on the picture. Other colours are Matte silver, Hyper crimson black, and Oil grey. In Europe these babies got launched 18th May. Unfortunately they sell out really fast, so be quick if you want to own them. The cost of the Nike m2k tekno is 109,95€.
Fila venom
Fila is an Italian brand which is getting trendier every day. I didn’t buy Fila in the past because it’s a sporty kind of brand. The company didn’t pay a lot of attention to the design of the sneakers, they had to be functional. Last year Fila launched the Disruptor sneaker and they are stepping up their game since then. Now by launching the new Fila venom I can tell they are taking a step in the right direction, a big one. The upper part is made of a mixture of suede, leather, and mesh. The sole is made of chunky all-white foam. The brand name is clearly visible on the front and back of the sneaker. The Fila venom dropped 25th May and is still available in specialized retailers and they are about €120. I would recommend to get them quick!
Balenciaga triple S
The Balenciaga triple S sneaker is a more high-end sneaker with a special place in my heart. The launch of this precious piece of art was about a year ago. The designer of Balenciaga Demna Gvalasia loves to create controversy in the fashion world and makes an incredible statement with the Triple S. Now everybody wants to purchase them and are sold out almost in all retail stores. In Antwerp you can only (pre)order them in Cocodrillo, a specialized high-end shoe store in the centre of the city.
