Visit Flanders, promoting tiny Flanders in huge London

“It’s easy to love a country known for beer and chocolate” is what Barack Obama once said during his visit to Flanders in 2014. I couldn’t agree more to be honest.
Working at VISITFLANDERS made me realise that there is so much more to explore in Flanders than I ever would have thought.

We promote the northern part of Belgium through four ways: B2C, B2B, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events) and press. I’ve been lucky to work with all four of them.

I’m able to use my Online Marketing skills by creating Facebook posts, tweets and newsletters using Flexmail. I’ve had the opportunity to help organise a dinner at the Belgian ambassador’s residence to convince UK based companies to organise an event in Flanders. Together with the Press Department I’ve organised a Beer Event for journalists and bloggers.

There are 6 Flemish art cities: Brussels, Antwerp, Ghent, Bruges, Leuven and Mechelen. We try to add an element from each region to everything we organise. For the event at the Ambassasor’s residence we had Bernard Bonte (an acclaimed chef from Bruges) to cook us a very nice dinner. During the Beer Event attendees could taste Flemish food (f.e. Antwerpse Handjes) matched with their beer.

I would most certainly recommend VISITFLANDERS as an interesting company to do your Marketing internship since you can use your knowledge about Flanders while learning a lot about this region at the same time.

Did I already mention the chocolate?
